THE COLLECTIVE

This series was formed around discovering new processes. If you look close into the work you will see shadows intertwined and connected to one another. My work studies those connections. Within self and within our relationships. The pieces themselves are a process of creating, ripping apart and rebuilding. This is life. This is how we shape our character and how we shape our surroundings. 

 

The shadow figures in these paintings are screen printed. I took my original paper painting, digitized it, created an infinite repeat symbolizing generations of  past and future and screen printed it back on paper. I see this process as being born again. It is then ripped apart and put back together for a second time creating visually pleasing shapes symbolizing our chosen tribes. I then built up the canvas by adding layers of fibers, natural pigment stains and then adding fibers again.
